IOTO is a knowledge management framework proposed by Teacher Johnny
IOTO corresponds to Input, Output, Task, and Result
This is an exploration and attempt that started in August 2023
The basic experience of the workflow is quite good
However, the convenience of personalized configuration of the framework may still need further optimization
I. Basic Framework#
- Use Obsidian as the base software
- Collaborate with plugins like dataview, templater, workspace plus, etc.
- The root directory of the library only contains four folders: Input, Output, Task, and Result
- Subfolders can be set under the Input folder based on personal knowledge sources
- The same logic applies to the Output folder
- Subfolders under the Task folder must correspond one-to-one with those under the Result folder
- Each subfolder under the Task and Result folders corresponds to a project
- Both the Task and Result folders must have an archive folder set up
II. Management Logic#
- Input is external knowledge, used for learning and reference
- Output is internal knowledge, for personal summarization and improvement
- Result is demonstrative knowledge, for knowledge dissemination and teaching others
- Task is an intermediary and management channel that connects Input, Output, and Result
- Input, Output, Task, and Result each correspond to a workspace
- Manage Input, Output, and Result through the Task workspace
III. Shortcuts#
- The shortcuts for each workspace correspond to ctrl+1, ctrl+2, ctrl+3, ctrl+4
- Another overview workspace shortcut is ctrl+5
- The shortcuts for creating Input, Output, Task, and Result correspond to alt+1, alt+2, alt+3, alt+4
- Another auxiliary tool shortcut is alt+5
IV. Workflow#
- The first thing to do is open Obsidian
- Press ctrl+3 to open the Task workspace
- Press alt+3 to create a specific task project
- In the project, create links for the expected results of the day and complete the content
- During the process, it may also be necessary to create Output and Input
- Given time, the results in this project will be completed
- Drag the completed projects from the Task and Result into the archive folder
